Spring 1967 was
the big thaw when we all woke up and found ourselves on some new and
strange planet. There was the Be-In in Central Park, hippies, the Grateful
Dead. People dressed in beads and costumes. It was like a big, ecstatic
intermission. But it didn't last, and then everyone went home.
