New York City
Summer 1966
I was living in Greenwich Village, working at the NYU computer center. Just bought a new camera, a Nikon Nikkormat, at Willoughby Camera. Took my first trip to Europe in June, and was trying to take photography seriously.
Here are some of the New York pictures.
Washington Square fountain
Bleecker and MacDougal
..the Cafe Figaro, where I spent much of my time, and the Borgia across the street. Looking up MacDougal. Further up the street was the Kettle of Fish, where Bob Dylan appeared one day, and the Feenjohn aka The Fat Black Pussycat.
The Figaro was my special
hangout from 1958-1968
This espresso maker was no longer in use and on display as a piece of sculpture. It was also used as a coatrack.
The Figaro at Night
Bleecker street on a summer night - no one stayed in their hot apartments - the Figaro was our living room.
The Cafe Wha! on MacDougal
Street was mainly for the tourists from Queens
Anyone remember Lothar
and the Hand People?
